New Year's Baby (and lots of them!)

Our friend Fin and her mum are sharing a birthday today, and are hosting a New Years Baby day.

We have had a few babies visit us in the last year. The first newborns came with supermum Stella. She was the sweetest little cat, with such a wonderful soul. This photo shows her with her foster baby Calvin Bunny, a very weak little kitten that she saved with her motherly love. She came to our home with five babies. Unfortunately, one passed away at one day old. We named him Elijah. Our dear friends Siena and Chilli sent us this beautiful photo of a violet in their garden to remember him by.

This photo shows the other four babies; two boys and two girls. We can't tell who is who here, but it shows Ellie, Angus, Pablo and Daisy when they were a day old.This is little Pabs at four weeks, shortly before he passed away. He had such lovely markings, and was a sweet little boy.This is Daisy at four weeks, just before she passed away. She was a tiny girl right from the start, but we tried our best for her and her brother.This is the beautiful Miss Ellie at approximately 8 weeks old. She and Angus went on a big adventure!

This is Angus at 8 weeks.When he and Ellie were ready to find their Forever Home, there were a lot of kittens looking for homes in Townsville. Due to the tropical weather, there doesn't tend to be a kitten season so much as a permanent influx. Meanwhile in Adelaide where they have proper seasons, they had more people wanting kittens than there were kittens to be wanted. So Ellie and Angus formed part of a contingent that flew cross country to find their new homes! Both are now in their Forever Homes.The Hogwarts Kittens were our first Sydney fosters. Harry arrived first, then Hermione the next morning and Ron the next afternoon. Hermione is now in her Forever Home, and is known as Lella. She was named after a kitty that her parents met while holidaying in Bali. Lella and her brother Gomez are learning to get along, and her new mum said she is doing very well.

Harry is looking for his home.Ronny Licious became a permanent member of the household. Fred and Georgie came along nine weeks after the Hogwarts kittens.

Luna was not a newly born kitten when she came to us, but she just had to be included here with the kittens who are almost certainly her siblings. She was approximately four weeks old when she got here.
This is Freddie at five weeks.Georgie still has a pink spot on her head that we put on to tell her apart from Freddie!Luna has been growing really well since we got her flea free and full bellied inside.

We have already received enquiries about Luna and Georgie through our PetRescue listings, which is exciting.

Blast From the Past.

Do you remember these two? Baby Ellie and Baby Angus?We can't tell which is which in the baby photo. They were very similar when they were older. When they were still little tiny babies, they were identical!!!
Here they are with their mum Stella when they were 4 weeks old. She was a very very good mum.
This is Ellie at 7 weeks.
And this is Angus at 7 weeks.
We got some happy news confirmed for us. Both are in their Forever Homes, and have been for some time. Do you want to know the fun part? The shelter they were in had lots and lots of kittens. Meanwhile, there was a sister shelter in South Australia who had interested adopters, but very few kittens. So a plane load of kittens was sent from Townsville to Adelaide to fulfil the demand. Ellie and Angus were on that plane! Unfortunately we weren't able to get photos of them when they were bigger, but it makes us very happy to think of them in good homes. We are also thankful for the lengths the shelter went to in order to give them the best chance of finding those homes.

Introducing...

Hi. My name is Marty. Marty Mouse. While Fui and Suey are locked up, I'm taking over round here. I started my day by rounding up those pesky kittens. Little Calvin Bunny needs his bits snipped so he can go up for adoption, and the twins need to go to another foster home where they will get nice and fat.

We asked about silly Stella, and found out that she has been under vet treatment, after pulling her stitches out. She has put her recovery back a while, but should be fine. I squeeked loudly, hoping she would hear my positive thoughts.

On a more positive note, doesn't young Mr. Bunny have beautiful eyes? The lady won't stop going on about how pretty they are. We also saw Tillie, Ruby and Jasper. Jasper was playing like a crazy cat and Tillie raced over straight away to say hello (which made the lady's heart skip a beat or two), while Ruby was snoozin'.

Once I had the kittens safely ensconced at the shelter, it was time to go for a ride with my friend Fui and his sister Suey. Fui cried the whole way to the Kitty hotel, like a really manly mancat. I didn't make a peep! Julie was very nice to them, and they seemed to relax quite well. The lady was sad to leave them, though, and can't wait to see them again.Tonight, I'm enjoying having the house to myself while I prepare for my road trip. I hear there are some big things in my near future!

Putting Plans Into Action

Now that we have dates to move and a house, we've been able to formalise some of our plans. Mum and Dad investigated several kitty hotels, and have chosen one for us to stay in. The lovely lady, Julie, who runs the place let them hang out with her for nearly an hour, and she showed them around the whole place. Mum and Dad loved the way that other kitties staying there were so happy and relaxed with her. They got to see how Julie interacted with a couple of new residents who were sulking at being left behind by their parents. She was very gentle with them, and didn't try to force them into contact. Mum liked this, because she expects that Suey will be quite reserved when she first gets there. Suey doesn't like it at all when people try to force her to be friends, so we think Julie is the right lady for her.

There was a kitty at the hotel who's dad works in the mines. Over the last two years, he has spent more time at the hotel than with his dad. There were also a pair of kitties who had been there for 8 months while their parents are posted to the US. They are older, and their parents didn't want to put them through quarantine. Mum payed particular attention to them, and was impressed at how well they seemed. They looked physically great, and were relaxed and chirpy.

So that is where we will be staying. Mum and Dad will be dropping us off on Monday, and Julie says they are welcome to stay for as long as they like to help us settle in.

Calvin will go back to the shelter on Monday to be desexed. We are excited for the little Bunny! Ellie and Angus will go to another foster home, where they will stay until they are over 1kilo. Mum and Dad will move into their hotel on Monday night. On Tuesday, the packers come. They are going to put nearly all of our things into a big truck, and start driving it to Sydney. On Wednesday, Mum and Dad start driving to Sydney. To make sure they don't get up to mischief, I am sending my friend Marty Mouse with them, so they don't get up to any funny business. He will keep an eye on them.

They are going to take a few nights to get to Sydney, staying in Rockhampton, Maroochydore and Coffs Harbour on the way, and are then staying in Darling Harbour on Saturday night. On Sunday, they move into their temporary accomodation.

Our things are due to arrive on about the 9th of June. Mum and Dad will spend a day or two trying to unpack as much as possible and get everything ready in the house. Then we will fly down with a pet transport company that Gypsy and Tasha's Mum recommended.

Tiny Tabby Tuesday

Little Ellie and Angus have been developing tabby markings on their faces. Ellie is also developing a silly sense of humour. Here she is making the water bowl her new chair. She tipped all the water out, first!

Angus is a little bit lighter than his sister. He likes to nap on the bottom of the scratching post. The other night, the tiny tabby met the huge tabby. They were both very well behaved. He is very interested in these tiny kitties.

Stella continued to be a wonderful mother to Ellie and Angus, and Calvin, until the moment mum packed her up with Jasper to take her to the shelter. When Calvin was not doing well, mum thought he was going to pass away. She believes Stella and her kindness saved his life. He is now a strong, happy, healthy little boy who we are sure will go on to find a wonderful home. Mum and dad were sad to have to take Stella back, but think it was the right time. A Big Day

Today is a big day for us! I am 1.2kg, and that means I'm getting neutered!

But it is not just a big day for me. Stella is going back, too. Ellie and Angus are pretty much weaned, and Stella prefers to spend her time away from them. Mum feels it is time. The babies race around, play, eat really well, and use the litter box like champions. They are 9 weeks old tomorrow!

My brother Calvini Bunnini (what can I say, it stuck!) tipped the scale at just on a kilo on Sunday, and Ellie and Angus are both over 500 grams. Angus is approx 20g heavier than his sister. Our foster mum is sad to see us go, but believes we will go on to find wonderful homes. She says seeing Stella learn to be a mum was one of the best experiences she has ever had.And it wouldn't have been a complete fostering experience without the little champagne tailless Bunny boy!:)
