New Year's Baby (and lots of them!)

Our friend Fin and her mum are sharing a birthday today, and are hosting a New Years Baby day.
We have had a few babies visit us in the last year. The first newborns came with supermum Stella. She was the sweetest little cat, with such a wonderful soul. This photo shows her with her foster baby Calvin Bunny, a very weak little kitten that she saved with her motherly love. She came to our home with five babies. Unfortunately, one passed away at one day old. We named him Elijah. Our dear friends Siena and Chilli sent us this beautiful photo of a violet in their garden to remember him by.
This photo shows the other four babies; two boys and two girls. We can't tell who is who here, but it shows Ellie, Angus, Pablo and Daisy when they were a day old. This is little Pabs at four weeks, shortly before he passed away. He had such lovely markings, and was a sweet little boy. This is Daisy at four weeks, just before she passed away. She was a tiny girl right from the start, but we tried our best for her and her brother. This is the beautiful Miss Ellie at approximately 8 weeks old. She and Angus went on a big adventure!
This is Angus at 8 weeks. When he and Ellie were ready to find their Forever Home, there were a lot of kittens looking for homes in Townsville. Due to the tropical weather, there doesn't tend to be a kitten season so much as a permanent influx. Meanwhile in Adelaide where they have proper seasons, they had more people wanting kittens than there were kittens to be wanted. So Ellie and Angus formed part of a contingent that flew cross country to find their new homes! Both are now in their Forever Homes. The Hogwarts Kittens were our first Sydney fosters. Harry arrived first, then Hermione the next morning and Ron the next afternoon. Hermione is now in her Forever Home, and is known as Lella. She was named after a kitty that her parents met while holidaying in Bali. Lella and her brother Gomez are learning to get along, and her new mum said she is doing very well.
Harry is looking for his home.Ronny Licious became a permanent member of the household. Fred and Georgie came along nine weeks after the Hogwarts kittens.
Luna was not a newly born kitten when she came to us, but she just had to be included here with the kittens who are almost certainly her siblings. She was approximately four weeks old when she got here.
This is Freddie at five weeks.Georgie still has a pink spot on her head that we put on to tell her apart from Freddie!Luna has been growing really well since we got her flea free and full bellied inside.
We have already received enquiries about Luna and Georgie through our PetRescue listings, which is exciting.
We hope you liked re-visiting some of our baby pictures:)

Daisy

The decision was made this morning to euthanise Daisy. She was beginning to deteriorate, and the vet didn't feel there was much we could do. I didn't want her to wind up in the same situation as Pablo, and chose to end her suffering.
Ellie and Angus both passed their exams, and the vet doesn't believe they should have any problems. Stella also passed her health check, and tested negative to the things they can test for. Have fun at the Bridge, Daisy darling. You and your brother are loved, and will be for the rest of time.
Thankyou for your kind words about little Pablo, and your purrs for Daisy.
Daisy the Curly Cat and Pablo from Tasmania, I'm really sorry it ended up like this.

Life is Grand

Hi! It's Stella! My sweet friend Nigel, 's brother, gave me this wonderful award! The rules for accepting this award are simple:
1. You hafta give 5 reasons why you think life is grand.
2. You hafta pass the award on to 5 more blogs.

1. Having such good friends makes life grand! Thankyou, Nigel!:)
2. My babies got to come to a home environment almost as soon as they were born. They aren't having to grow up in a shelter. By the time they are ready to go up for adoption, kitten season should be over here, meaning their chances for a great home improve exponentially.
3. The four of them are growing into strong little kittens. Their eyes and ears are open and clear, their teeth are coming through, their claws are starting to retract, and they are getting more and more co-ordinated all the time. 4. Fancy Feast in my bowl each night- need I say more?:)
5. I have time and space to raise my babies, and get strong myself. I also have time to relax, and get lots of chin skritches and cuddles.

I would like to pass this onto the following four kitties and a special woofie:

My Daddycat and Introductions

My Daddy was excited to meet Stella and her babies. I must admit, they are very cute. When Dad was home, he and Mum got to work on naming the babies. They decided to name the babies after some of our friends in the Blogosphere. We hope that this will inspire the babies to grow strong, healthy and happy.

Without further ado, we would like to present:
Pablo, named after our friend , a strong brave mancat from West Hobart in Tasmania.Ellie, named after the lovely mum of , a ladycat who is caring and kind.
Daisy, the littlest baby, named for the clever and beautiful .
And Angus, named after , all around gentleman and possessor of super paws.
We hope the babies will wear their names well, and try to develop like the wonderful examples of cathood that their namesakes are.
When my dad was home, we also spent time doing mancatly things.
We spent one night gecko huntin' in the carport. Usually, I sit and meow nicely, asking the geckos to come down and play.
But when dad is home, they don't get much of a choice. Here, gecko gecko!
I love you dad. See you again soon.

PhotoHunt- Hat(s)

The theme for todays PhotoHunt is 'Hat(s)'.
This is the hat my Dad wears for work. He got a new one a couple of months ago, and I had to investigate it, to make sure it was safe for him to wear.

It is quite a comfortable hat. So comfortable in fact, that I had a nap on it:)

Make sure to check out the other s for today!

We love you and your blog, Daisy and Harley!

Ping Pong Balls are Lots of Fun

This is my favourite toy. It is a ping pong ball. It bounces, and is easy to bat around. Mum throws it for me to get it moving, and then I play play play!

I know some other catbloggers have been a bit perturbed at how many votes a certain blog with a bad word in the title has suddenly recieved in the Weblog awards. Mum did some looking around for me today, and found the Best Pet Blog category has become a battleground for those trying to save the world from 'corporate suck ups' . They basically chose the Penguin blog to be the winner, and are funnelling votes. Then, the rival faction (goodness this sounds silly!) funnel votes for the initial target (in this case, Cheezburger). Apparently it is happening in a number of categories, especially the political blogs (what a surprise!).

Which is why we want to congratulate on how well she is doing, despite the silliness going on in the background. We love your blog, and enjoy reading it every day.

If you have two computers in your house, and two people who enjoy reading Daisy's blog, did you know you get two votes for her, one from each computer. Mum makes sure to remind dad to vote for her each morning (he is very enamoured with Harley!). You can go to vote if you haven't done so yet today. Even if the silliness of the vote riggers does mean Daisy isn't the official winner, we think it is more important that she has an honest tally of people who both read and enjoy her blog. That makes you a winner to us, Daisy!:)

Now, all this silly business has made me rather fuzzy in the head. I think I need to play play play with my ping pong ball!

My Experiment

Hi! I haven't been allowed a turn on here for ages! I have a funny experiment. It involves my sister Blitzen. This is Blitzen's tail when not exposed to Fui.
This is Blitzen's tail on Fui exposure!

Hahaha! Her furs went 'poof'!

After a little while, her furs settled down again. I think they might even be making friends with Fui. I'm not sure what Blitzen herself thinks. MOL! See my joke?

I am 1.4 kilos today. Blitzen is 1.2kg and Dancer is 1.1kg. We will probably go back and have our special vet visit this week. We are meant to be over 1kg. I reached that a little while ago, but I got held back a little as the shelter was very full, and Dancer was not at the weight yet. Our foster mum thought she might as well just keep us together. I don't mind!

Guess what else! Pretty is nominated for Best Pet Blog in the !! Isn't that cool!! Voting starts in a couple of hours, and you can click to vote for her. Good luck Daisy!!

Bye!!

Pixie

We learned this morning that has had a sad loss. Her beautiful sister Pixie left for the Rainbow Bridge this morning, after putting up a strong fight against feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy for the last 6 years. She was nearly 13 years old, and very brave.

We learned about Pixie and Daisy when we were looking for information about Devon Rexes, after Evie arrived at our house. Both girls are Rexes themselves, and bring big smiles to our faces. Daisy and her mum will no doubt be very sad today, and I am sure your prayers would be appreciated.

If you would like to learn more about feline hcm, the Winn Feline Foundation has some very good information, and funds research into feline hcm through the Ricky Fund.

Enjoy your time at the Bridge, Pixie, where you will be restored to health, and be able to nom on all the bananers you can eat.
