Our Big Day

Today, Hermione and I had a really big day. It was not good. We have been to the vet before. That is where the nice vets gave us check ups and we got to meet people who were interested in adding us to their families. It always involved lots of cuddles and smooches.Today, we discovered the real meaning of V-E-T.We got microchipped and vaccinated. Not good. Not good at all. I was better than Hermione though. She even bit our foster mum! The vet did not think Ron should be microchipped or vaccinated, as it would be too much for his little body. Do you know what he got instead? A collar and tag ordered for him. That is way better than needles!

Us Hogwarts kittens wanted to say thankyou for all the lovely comments you left about us finding our Forever Homes. We feel very lucky to have so many good friends:)

Take it easy, peeps.
Harry.

A Message From Moimoi

Hi kitties,

The Hogwarts kittens are turning two months old on Monday! To celebrate, I would like to invite you to a party at our blog. We had a little cake when they turned one week old because we weren't too confident they would make it much longer. To see them thriving seven weeks later is beyond our wildest dreams. So please come and celebrate with us:)

We are also excited because the vet mum was doing some work for has agreed to let her stay on as a trainee, and help her to get her accreditations as a vet tech. Mum spent a long time trying to find a vet who would take her on, so this is very cool. She is very happy.

We were annoyed to miss the Blogblast for Peace due to mum being lazy and not a good assistant. We enjoyed visiting around the Blogosphere and seeing all the globes, even if we didn't comment. Also, the Queen of Procrastination has finally helped us finish off our prizes from our NRL competition. They will be in the mail shortly:)

Our friend Virus is the papa to some of the cutest kittens we have ever seen. One of his sons, Poirot, is entered in a contest to become Mr. Cat. To vote for him, click .

Have a lovely weekend:)

Oh Boy!

What a day I had! It was not fun! It was a trip to the v-e-t! I had to have needles! It was not fun. The vet said that I was in tip top shape. For the first time in a long time, they didn't say I was fat!! Woohoooooo!!!!!! BUT. My teeth were a little bit less than perfect. So mum has to brush my teeth every single day for the next fortnight to see how they look! That is so not cool. As a result of my fight against the toothbrush, I ended up having a bath to get the allegedly chicken toothpaste off my furs.

So I am now curled up toasting my tabby tush on the heater.
Not a good day.

Uh Oh

We got a massive shock before we went to the kitty hotel. You'd think it would be a time for rest and relaxation, right? WRONG! Instead, we were boxed up and shoved in the car! Our mean mum wanted us to have a thorough check up before we went into the cat hotel and on our plane ride. We also had our vaccinations updated.
We arrived at the vet knowing that this was not going to be a good day. This is so not what we were up for. Dr. Linda was the vet on duty that day. At least she is nice. She gave us Greenies in between torturing us.
We are both in good health, with strong hearts and lungs and a perfect temperature (although we could have lived without knowing that!). We are both a little bit fat though. We had a food change four months ago, and mum thinks our weight gain is related to that. So we're on a diet!

Suey got dad good when he was getting her out of the carrier. Our doctor nearly had to treat him! Hahaha! Notice how we swapped carriers halfway through? Suey wanted to be back with her platypus.

We'll have two weeks in the kitty hotel to plan our revenge. We're going to make it good!

Happy Gotcha Day, Dancer!!!

Miss Pretty has found her Forever Home! What's more, she did so despite us having had torrential rain for the last 4 days, at the same time as two kind tides. Given the number of roads that have been flooded, and the number of people choosing to stay at home, she did very well indeed! Clearly, her lure was irresistable :)

My eye is looking better today. Fingers crossed it will continue!

I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the butt print in my nap garden, which has sadly been washed away. I spent many hours creating him, he was my close companion. Once the ground dries out, I will go to work on butt print V2.0, but I will always remember my first one!

We Have Another Correction!

Hey there! Guess what! As is the tradition, not all of us had our genders correctly identified. I am a GIRL! And I am now known as Athena. This has meant a name change for my brother, too. We are no longer Cosmo and Kramer, we are now Apollo and Athena. Our cool tuxie friend formerly known as Willy Wagtail has jumped on the mythylogical name bandwagon, and now goes by Loki.

So, in our Little Litter, we are now Athena, Apollo and Freja. The Big Litter now go by Odin, Thor and Loki.

Goodness, all this confuzlement!

My foster mum reports that Fui was a very good boy at the vet. They put anaesthetic eye drops in and had a good look in under his third eyelid. There was no sign of any foreign object or trauma, and he has no clinical signs of anything viral. There is no discolouration to the eyeball, no discharge, and he allowed the vet to firmly palpate around the socket. So we are a bit stumped. The eye specialist will be up here in 6 weeks- the joy of living out of the way, I guess. For now, the humans are pretty stumped. There is a little bit or redness, and a little bit of swelling. The vet called his symptoms 'blephoraspasms', which is the squinting and excessive blinking from one eye.

I asked about whether it could be anything to do with his brain or nerves, and the vet said this was extremely unlikely, especially given he is not presenting with any other symptoms.

For now, we are taking a wait and see approach. Our vet believed it was likely there will be improvement naturally, without any intervention. If there is any worsening, we will have him back at the vet immediately. If the symptoms continue as is, there is really nothing we can do until the specialist comes up from Brisbane. For us to take him there would be a 2 hour flight (and he would have to travel cargo), otherwise it is approximately 20 hours in the car. Given that he sooks on the 10 minute trip to the vet, this would be good to avoid unless it is really necessary.

The vet recommended giving Fui a break from the eye ointment for the next 24 hours, incase that is causing additional irritation. So hopefully, that is the case and this time tomorrow he will be looking at us bright eyed and happy!

We Have Names!

I am Cosmo!
I am Kramer! (can you tell what my foster parent's have been watching a bit of lately?!).
I am Willy Wagtail!
I am Odin!

I am Thor!

And I am pretty Freja!

It is nice to have names now:)

Fui is off back to the vet tomorrow. He is still squinty, and is quite puffy around his face. Mum is worried that they are going to have to put him under, so if you don't mind, we would really appreciate some purrs. It breaks Mum's heart to know that he is hurty.

Hooray!

Beautiful Blitzen found her Forever Home today! Her new mum is a young lady who regularly volunteers at the shelter. She had been waiting for the right kitty for a while, and that right kitty is Blitz!
Hooray for Blitzen!
We picked up two litters of three today. They are getting along very well, and we are referring to them as the Brady Bunch. There are 5 boys and a girl. Here is a sneak peek!

Fui's eye is still a little puffy, but is looking better. The vet had warned that if it wasn't looking better in a couple of days, they would need to put him under to make sure there was no injury to his conjunctiva, but at this stage we don't think that will be necessary. Which is very very good!

All Shrewed Up

The Claus kitties all went well with their 'ectomies. They will go up for adoption tomorrow.
I am off to the vet this afternoon. My eye is sore. Mum and dad don't think it is too serious, but want to be on the safe side. It's no good being a mancat with a puffy eye!

------Update------
The vet thinks my eye was just a bit irritated from having a foreign body or something in it. She missed the irony in saying this while she had her fingers in my eye. She painted it yellow! My eyeball! I am going to have a yellow tongue and boogers later. Just great! Mum has to shoot a bunch of goop in my eye 3 times a day for the next few days, but the vet thinks I'll be fine. At least there was no temperature taken.

I Was a Nutter for the Vet!

Evie-

Some kitties have that magic ability. Fui has it. Suey has it. I don't have it. At all. It is the magical ability to be a good kitty at the vet. I was nutcase kitty. I saw the other kitties, and then heard the doggies, and that was that! Not the place for Evie Cat!

Because I was such an angry, frightened girl, the vet could not examine me. I kept wanting to give the vet nice bitey marks. And if I couldn't give them bitey marks, I could give them scratchy marks! I got three people in the vet room! My foster mummy had to stop volunteering, and come and do some kitty wrangling with me! I gave her some little biteys, and some little scratchies. She spent a long time trying to get me to relax, sitting with me in a quiet room, but it didn't work.

Evie 1, Vet 0!

Lissa-
I was looking forward to Evie getting the ok from the vet- looking forward to it very much! Unfortunately, she was very unsettled in the car, and then freaked out completely when it came time for her to see the shelter vet. She tensed up completely, and the vet was unable to feel for babies. She couldn't be sedated, incase she is still pregnant, as that would harm the babies. The shelter did not have any of the drugs that are safe for a pregnant cat, and needed an initial diagnosis before she could be referred to the big vet who does the more complicated things for them.

As it stands, it is fairly clear she does not have milk coming in. Whether or not she is pregnant is something we will see when she goes to see a cat specialist on Tuesday. The new vet will have a feline pregnancy test, to try and figure out what's going on without stressing Evie too much.

Hopefully, it will turn out to be that Evie arrived at the shelter earlier in the pregnancy than they thought, and over the next week or so things will change. We will find out on Tuesday. I will try not to tear out all my hair!
