Teenage Tuesday

Hi peeps!
I had a little grown up moment on Sunday night. See, since I was a little tiny kitten, I have slept with my mummy every night. I jump up into bed as soon as she's in there and snuggle right in, not getting up until it's time to harass dad for breakfast.
The other day my mum and dad bought some new cat beds, and I decided I liked one of them. On Sunday evening I curled up in one, and I stayed there all night.
I've never really been into cat beds before, so this was a big change for me. I get seperation anxiety sometimes and start to cry and freak out when I forget where my mum is or when she goes out, so she and dad were very proud of me for relaxing without them for a whole night.

I'm hoping this being proud thing results in some extra stinky goodness... :)

A Year Ago Today

One year and one day ago, my friend Greta called my mum to ask for some help with a kitten. Mum brought Harry home that night. The next morning, she called again to say another pair had been found by the same man. Shortly thereafter, I arrived with my sister in my soon-to-be Forever Home. The vet put me at 1 day old max. I had dried gunk on my furs, so my mumcat probably didn't have a chance to clean me up before a person took me, my brother and sister away and put us in the gardens of three adjacent houses. The man who found my brother Harry heard me crying during the night, and kept looking until he found me and Hermione. At that stage, I was known as Ron.I was a pesky kitten from the start. My first poop was bright green! I was a very difficult eater and most of my feeds for the first two weeks were force feeds. I also did not like to poop very often at all, which had my mum very worried. I had a wound on my leg, too, probably from being thrown in the bushes.I was a funny contradiction of a baby kitten. I was both very fragile and very tough. It is a miracle that I survived the first night without food or warmth, and a testament to my fluffy fighting spirit. I am in the back in this photo.I had a few set backs in my progress, but kept overcoming them. I was not a kitten to be kept down for long. I was the smallest of my siblings at less than 100 grams when I first came home, but I was the first to open my eyes. I was also the first to use my litter tray.Today I am strong and tough and mancatly. I am also very very loved, and have added so much to my family. My brother and sister take good care of me, and have taught me a lot. I am lucky to have made lots of friends all over the world. Please come and enjoy my birthday party in my courtyard. We have all sorts of nommy foods to enjoy and games to play. It is my very first Gotcha Day :)

From the Mum

Today, the Kittenheads have let me use their blog to be a gushy mum. We hit a big milestone with Lishy the other night. Some of you may remember that when we decided Lishy would stay with us for as long as he could, I became obsessed with the notion that he must have a collar from , the same as Fui and Suey had. There was a problem though in that the collars are made to fit necks of 20-30cm (8-12 inches). For Lishy, we needed a collar that would fit a much smaller neck. The lovely Alison especially for the wee boy, of 12cm (4 3/4 inches). It was the teeniest collar I have ever seen. At the time of ordering, we had been warned that Lishy may not even make it long enough for the collar to be delivered. As Lishy continued to defy the vet's prognosis and grow, we have been letting the collar out. It is now 22cm (8 1/2 inches), and wont go much bigger. On Wednesday, I had the exciting experience of ordering Lishy a new regular sized collar.

I know some will think it is ridiculous to be excited about ordering a collar, but to me, it meant so much more than just something cute for tags to be attached to. Ordering Lishy's collar was a really practical indication of just how far he has come, and how strong he has become.

Today marks 11 months that Lishy has been living with us. He is showing no symptoms of anything other than tiring fairly quickly when he plays. He has been microchipped, fully vaccinated, desexed, and keeps up with the big cats, all things his vet said he wouldn't be capable of. I would like to say thankyou so very very much to all the people, kitties and pups who have commented, purred, sent emails and suggestions, and sent their love out into the world for our boy. I really believe that in addition to his tough spirit, all the positive energy that was aimed at Lishy has helped him get to this point, and I am so very grateful for that.

He is an extraordinary wee boy, and we are blessed to have him in our lives :)

Battle of the Lap

It's Suey here. We have a problem. It's Lishy.
He keeps stealing our lap time!
How do you feel about this, Fui? Yeah, me too.
We also wanted to assure our friends that Tiger will be ok. He has a home with Nan's husband Uncle Alan, and their daughter Aunty Vicki is living with them. He will be well cared for.
Have a happy week :)

Box Wars

I love boxes. All kinds of boxes. My little brother? Now THAT is another story!
He likes to charge in on me, and make me jump out of my box.
I have found that the best way to scare him off is with an atomic raspberry. Brothers!

My Favourite Spot

Hi everybuddy!
Fui asked me to say a very big thankyou for all the kind Gotcha Day messages. He had a lovely day and we gave him lots of extra snuggles.I would like to say thankyou to those who gave my a vote in Kitty Fight Club, and send a very big concatulations to Snafu. Good luck in your next round :)
I have been spending lots of time relaxing in the ham-mick. In the photo below, you can see how much I have grown since I first started hanging out in it!
I have more good news on the Ginger Ninjas. They have names now! Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po. They have been with Greta for a week now and are doing fabulously. There have been no sneezes or runny noses, and the little ginger boy's eyes have cleared up. We are very glad that they are with someone who is taking such great care of them.

Have a really fun week:)
Love Lishy.

Mucky Monday

Do you know the bad part about having bright white furs?It is really obvious when you've been rolling in the dirt. Then your mum will come running at you with the assorted combs and brushes that are meant to help get dirt and leaves and junk out of your long furs. Camouflage fail!

Fun on Friday

Hi kitties! It's Alice Darcy here. I wanted to tell you it was me because I have grown so much I might not be recognisable! In the two weeks since we have been in our foster home, Henry and I have put on nearly 250 grams each. When you think that we were only 400 grams each on the day we arrived, I think it's quite an impressive gain. But onto the fun stuff! Henry and I have been having a lot of fun with the track toy.We have learned how to reach in and flick the ball now, and like to chase it like crazy. We get so excited when we are playing, and will chase the ball around and around the track. We have been playing really nicely together, and don't even whap each other in our excitement. These are two short videos of us playing with our track toy. You can see Henry run really really fast!

In this video, you can see Lishy come and try to play with us. He is trying to teach us to wrassle. He is a good teacher, because he is gentle with us.

We hope that you get to do something this weekend that is a lot of fun! :)
Love Alice.

It's My Seventh Month Day

Hello!
It's me, Lishy. Remember me? The kitten who had a matter of weeks? Who wouldn't make it to six months? Today I am SEVEN MONTHS OLD! Me and my mum wanted to ring the vet who wanted to euthanise me when I was a sprocket and say "hahahaha, sucker!" but dad said we probably shouldn't. But by golly we thought it!
While I wait for mum to finish my Fancy Feast monthday cake, I'll have a chew on my tree. Care to join me? :)

Brothers

I think Fui loves having a brother. You know why? When he rough houses with Suey, she cries "UNCLE!!!!!" within 3 seconds. I don't. I come back for more!We have been having lots of fun running around outside being tough and mancatly. I don't think he is looking forward to me growing even bigger though, because I will totally be able to take him.
Being a boy is fun!:)
