It Never Rains...

But it pours with these bebbehs! I had to take little Ellie to the vet today. Stella got a bit fed up with her the other day and took a swipe at her, cutting the skin beside her back knee open. I'd been doing my best to keep it clean, and it looked to be healing quite well. When I checked on it again this morning, it was pretty clear that an infection was developing.
So she went off to see Dr. Paul. He cleaned the cut out, gave Ellie an antibiotic injection and a course of antibiotic tablets, and quickly fell in love with her. She was a very good girl, and didn't even cry with the needle. She weighed in at 260 grams. It is a little small for her age, but Dr. Paul believes she is also very strong, and developing well. Her teeth are looking good, and he was happy with her activity and attention levels and co-ordination skills. Dr. Paul gave us a special wash to use, to help keep the wound clean. Ellie is now curled up in the crate, snoozing with Angus.

Speaking of teeth, does anykitty have any experience with an undershot/overshot jaw? Tillie's lower jaw has developed with quite a clear deformity- it is shorter than her top jaw. This means that when she closes her mouth, her bottom canines are behind her front teeth, when they should be in front.

I'm keeping a close eye on her mouth, as from what I understand, there is the risk of a wound occuring on the top of her mouth caused by the bottom teeth. There is a good chance she will have her bottom canines removed when she is desexed.

I think our vet loves our family!

We always loves kittens! We hope Ellie gets better! Our Sandusky has a tooth that sticks out a little... but it isn't really the jaw! Poor Tillie!

My momma Ellie's motor starting rumbling when she heard about baby Ellie. I'm sure that will help baby Ellie heal up quick because my momma's purrs are magic!

We've not heard of a jaw issue like that, but I'm sure with all of our great kitty minds working on it, someone knows. Either that or Google...

I is a going to send many puurs to little Ellie anyways, even though I knows knows that she is in pawesome hands! :) Never hurts for extra purrs.
And how cool is that?! Well maybe?
We lives in Sydney too, AND more impawtantly when momma goes to the shops she sees a whole lot of big green men locally.. she says you would know what she means.. and lots of noisy birds in the sky that don't have fevvers,..even big elephants stomping the ground and makes the whole suburb shake hehe...we wonder if you will be by us? :)
Either way I hope that you all are happy with your move.. is kinda annoying moving around, hopefully my dadda will be where he is for awhile :)

What's not to fall in love with with little Ellie -- she's so cute! I'm glad her leg is healing up right. Good luck with the underbite ... poor little things. They're lucky to have you.

Goodness. It's always something with the wee ones, isn't it? We sure hope Ellie's boo boo is better soon and that Tillie won't develop any major problems with her jaw. I had a dog that had a sever under-bite, a peke, but he managed pretty well up til he left me for the bridge when he was 14 years old.

I hope Ellie's little leggie feels all better soon. We haven't really seen any kittens with the jaw problem. I'm sure it gives Tillie a real cute look, and I hope it doesn't cause her any problems.

We're so sorry that Ellie got a hurty, and hope she heals quickly. Ellie is growing up to be such a pretty kitten! We hope Tillie's jaw doesn't cause her any problems. That's such a sweet picture of her. She's such a cutie!

They're all so cute. We've heard you can stimulate growth in an undershot jaw by massaging the area - but we've no idea if it's actually working. (But purrhaps the increased bloodflow encourages more growth.. we dunno)
