They let us have a shrew from Goldie, Shade and Banshee to play with!! It was so much fun! Blitzen dived about, like you can see above. Dasher leapt through the air, like you can see below!
It was so much fun!
And guess what! My foster parents are pretty sure we got a nip buzz! This is rare in Australia, as cats here don't have the gene or something which reacts (or something, I'm small and don't really understand). Blitzen was especially buzzed. She even ran into a wall! This is Blitzen getting a shock when I pounced on her! MOL!
We are going for our 'ectomies tomorrow. Tonight we don't get to have any dinner, so we had a big lunch of our favourite fish flavour.

So much fun! We didn't know about the nip-gene. Sometimes it is hard to tell with kittens if they love the toy are are nipped-out - we are wondering with Chilli. Siena definitely only reacted at about 7 months. Do Fui & Suey like nip? They were so nice to give you one of the shrews! Good luck for tommorrow, little ones!
I am soooo happy that you guys enjoyed the shrews!!!!
Yippee!!!
Hope your operations go without a hitch and you are back to your playful selves in no time!!

I think my mom read somewhere that kittens don't usually react to nip, they have to get older...and about 10% of cats don't ever react to it. Yes my mom was searching catnip sites...but it's because she wants to grow a huge nip patch, not just the random nip that is all over our garden.
Thanks for the info, Cory. We've never seen a kitty buzzed on nip before, and Blitzen's reaction made us wonder. She was so pretty bouncing off the walls, a total crack up:) We do love our cat grass, though!
hehehe It's fun to get buzzed on nip. And it makes you not even notice bouncing into walls.
Purrs for your ectomies to go good!
Those videos were so cute! There is nothing more fun that seeing kittens playing with a new toy.
Good luck with your 'ectomies tomorrow!

Oh what fun! Gandalf loves hiding toys in shoes, too! We'll see you after your 'ectomies!

Fui and Suey sure are kind foster siblings to let you play with the shrews. I wonder - my cousin Charlotte and I don't react to nip at all. Do Fui and Suey?
You're really enjoying those shrews!

That's some awesome fun you are having with those shrews! It's great to see you growing so fast, you have all reached the leggy stage!
There's a herb called Valerian which is handy for cats who don't have the nip-lovin' gene. Humans use it to help them fall asleep but cats love it, it smells a bit like cat bum scent glands - you can buy it dried in health food shops. It's safe for cats, doesn't make them fall asleep!

hahha wowie you loved that shrew! I think you were getting high of your Mommas shoes there too :P hehe
Momam has never seen any of us like nip either... she even grew a nip plant so she could be sure it would be all nice and fresh and we just loked at it.
You know Momma has to watch when she uses bleach based cleaning products.. that's when I go all "nip-eyed" I try and roll and smooch it.. I go into horney kitty mode, I just can't get enough of the residule smell.. lucky Momma only uses them every now and again...
