Alongside the people, there are a heck of a lot of animals in need. Though we were thankful to hear last night that the Brisbane Showground was now allowing evacuated residents to bring cats in cages and dogs on leads, there are still a lot of animals (domestic, agricultural and wildlife)who were left behind. Shelters are also affected, with the RSPCA's Dakabin, Toowoomba, Fairfield and Gympie shelters closed. We were heartened to see the number of people who responded to the Fairfield shelter's SOS and turned up to help evacuate animals when it began to flood. One lady in particular touched our hearts when after turning up to foster a dog, ended up taking home a rooster because that was what was needed. They ended up turning people away, the response was so great.
If anyone is able to support the shelters through purr, prayer, practical or financial assistance, it is greatly needed at this time. The QLD Animal Welfare League and The QLD RSPCA are helping to coordinate a lot of the rescue efforts.We are sending our biggest, driest, rumbliest most loving purrs to all our friends and family in Queensland. We are purring for all those affected by the floods, and concerned for the bloggers we know who live in the state!
We have friends in Queensland and have been keeping i close touch with them. The scale of this flooding is quite terrifying. We will go to the sites and see what we might do to help.
Oh you Queenslanders :) But seriously, I have my purrs going strong for everyone to be safe.
We have been watching this on the news in the Uk too ~ it's so heartbreaking. We are sending purrs and purrayers.
It's so sad what is happening and a person feels so helpless. It is so wonderful when people pull together to help each other.

Yes we in the UK are watching shocked and horrified, we remember floods(though smaller) here that caused similar grief and our thoughts and prayers are with you!
It makes us purr to know that so many people showed up at the shelter to help. We will purr and pray for everyone in Queensland.
Mom had the news on the other night and worried about all of you when she heard about it. We are glad you are safe and that so many people are stepping up to help those that need it!
