Weekend Weirdness

It is very strange having feathers in the house. He is going back to work with mum tomorrow, and hopefully the wildlife rescue people will be able to pick him up. It is late spring, and they are very busy with lots of young native wildlife getting lost or injured. The adults are also more active at the moment, so they are at more risk of being hurt, too. In the last week, five birds, a possum and a bat have come into the vet!The bird is living in the bath at the moment. He is very messy. To get his beak clean, he flicks his head and the food shoots off! He also flicks poop all over the place. I have been sitting outside of the bathroom all weekend begging mum to let me have a look at the bird. She finally relented this afternoon. He was not bothered by me one little bit!
As odd as it is having the bird in the bathtub, that isn't the weirdest thing that arrived this weekend. This is! We are going to learn to use the toilet! Ever since Suey was sick with cystitis several months ago, she has had trouble with the litterbox. She changed the way she positioned her body to use it. Mum got the biggest one she could find- a big high one from Rubbermaid- but Suey still doesn't manage to keep the wee in the box. After months of scrubbing wee out of the grouting, we're trying this. We are on stage one now, with the seat and red lid on the floor. Suey has used it a couple of times, and all the wee has gone in the middle of the red lid! Now mum wonders if the big boxes were confusing her. It will be interesting to see how this progresses!

That's very interesting, Suey! Maybe Misha can give you some pointers, seeing as he is such an expert at using the people toilet!

What a great idea, Mommy has thought about that for us, but with 4 of us, she's sure that it would be too much to ask that we would all learn how to use the potty!

Hope the "litter kwitter" works! If not, another idea; my Banjo cat was a big boy and always missed getting everything into the litter box. I bought the tallest Rubbermaid container I could find, cut a hole on the side, up as high as I could so he could still jump in, but left the lid on! Everything stays inside. I lift the lid to clean it out and refill. He's had no accidents ever since we got it. Either way - hope you can find something that helps!

Poor Suey, surely she asociates the litter box with the pain she felt back then. Mom hates it when the lid of the toilet is open, so this isn't an option in our house. It will be very interesting to see how you two work it out. You're very clever kitties!

That's one interesting guest that you had over the weekend. We've never seen one close up, but it looked tast...er, pretty, yes, very pretty.

Hope you guys do well with your new project, and it works out less stressful for Sui.

Mom is laughing at the thought of us using the toilet...8 of us kitties...mom and dad would be out of luck! They'd never get to use it...and with a woofie, uh, we can't leave the lid up. Slurp slurp...ewwwww! Haha! We're pretty sure Ginger would fall in too.

Let us know how Suey does with the litter kwitter. Hope it would not be too stressful for her.

I have enough of the birdies in the garden. Sure wouldn't want them in the house as well.

I hope that works out. Jack has trouble going over the edge sometimes. The box lid keeps it in. But it gets smelly. Wish I could teach mine to use the toilet!
