The Sydney Cats and Dogs Home

In order to figure out where she will volunteer, mum has been going to various shelters in Sydney to get a feel for the place and work out travel times. She recently went to the . There were lots of adult kitties there, and these are some of them.

Mum came close to popping this little tortie in her handbag. She was fast asleep when mum got there, but once awake, was like a shadow. Mum has a soft spot for torties, and this little lady reminded her of Suey.
This big guy snoozed the entire time mum was there. He looked super comfy.
This young lady also came close to hitching a ride home with mum. She was a leg rubber, and very purry.
This ladycat stood for no silly business. She was chasing the other kitties around whapping them when they got too close. We think she will be very happy when she is finally sprung from the shelter, and is able to get a bit of quiet time.
This cutie pie was enjoying watching the birds on a washing line. She was very friendly. Mum loves the tabby stripes on her leg.
Look at this guy's eyes! He spent most of the time mum was there snoozing in his cave, but would occasionally call out, as if to say "don't forget me over here, k thnx!". He loved headrubs, and threw his whole body into it.
This ladycat was simply beautiful. She was very dainty and delicate, skipping around the boardwalks.
This little girl is a heart stealer. She was such a sweetie, and mum could tell she just wanted to be loved on. Mum couldn't resist her.
This guy was a real rascal. He has a bit of a reputation with the volunteers for suddenly putting the bitey on people. Mum thinks if she was a cat, she would want that reputation- keep the people guessing!
This is mum's favourite picture of the day. This lady cat stayed up on top of the doorway the whole time mum was there. She looked like SuperKitty!
Suey and I hope that these kitties find their Forever Homes really soon.

Great portraits of these cats! It is amazing how an animal-loving eye immeadiately pulls out the cats from anonimity and catches their purrsonality. It is impawtant to describe the cats well to interested people so everyone finds the purrfect match.

Awww, my mum would have trouble leaving all those cuties behind. She would want to take each and every one home with her.

Thanks for going and giving them some love Lissa, we can tell you have a lot of love to share.

Great pictures of the felines! I love the super cat picture for the fun of it, but all of the shots are great. It sounds like Mum wanted to bring them all home.

Mom has the most awful time leaving animals behind, especially if they are in cages, like yesterday. She had to go to the pet store to pick us up some treats and litter. The kitties up for adoption in the cages always tug real hard at her heart strings.

I love that last picture of super kitty...something about warm kitty paws and noses that makes my mom melt. We will purr that all of these wonderful loving cats finds their forever home.

Mom always says hello to the kitties up for adoption at Petco (they offer their location for the local cat shelter). She always tells them she hopes they find their forever home soon.

I think wanting to take all the cats home with you is an occupational hazard of volunteering at places like that!
