Guess what! Today is our estimated date of birth! That makes us 2 year old today!
This is one of mum's favourite photos of us together, and was taken not long after Suey moved in. We were approximately 12 weeks old in this photo. As you can see, we are a very close pair of bonded kitties. We were found abandoned on a building supply lot when we were only approximately 2 weeks old. It is not clear whether we were dumped, or our mumcat was scared away. We are from a litter of four, with a tortie sister and a caramel tabby brother.
Our lucky stars were out in force on the day we were noticed, because mum's good friend Kate was at the supply lot to get some materials to restore a chair. She is a natural with animals, mum has never known one to shy away from her. When Kate found out what was going on with us, she decided to take responsibility for us, and took us home with her. She fed and cared for us round the clock, even though she was pregnant and her husband was deployed. She looked after us until we were well socialised, and knew how to use our litterbox well. Then, she got us and our sister into the adoption program run by the biggest vet chain in our state. The program couldn't accept our tabby brother, because he had broken his leg jumping off the couch when he was tiny. While his leg had healed, the program couldn't take him. Kate was able to re-home him herself (after conducting many interviews!).
The time we went into the program coincided with when mum and dad started to look for a kitty to add to their family. Kate suggested the vet program, based on how well she had seen them look after us. The rest, as they say, is history.
When we were living with our foster mum Kate, we were also looked after by three foster fur-siblings. Pasta, a ginger kitten, Winnie, a grey kitty, and Reg, a young Maltese crossbreed.
Pasta is unfortunately no longer with them, but mum spent the other night with Reg, Winnie, and their two new blurps, Lily and Theo. We wanted to share some photos of our foster siblings, in honour of how they looked after us.
As you can see, Winnie is a beautiful ladycat.
She is very refined, and loves her Fancy Feast. She never says no to a cuddle. You can see her here enjoying head rubs from our mum. Reg was a real sweetheart to us. He was still young himself, but took us under his wing. He possibly thought he was our mum! Reg even let us try to suckle off him!
