Body Blows

We knew the day would come when one of our fosters ended up being euthanised. We never imagined it would come in such a way.

Seamus is sicker than we thought. He has a nasty, very contagious virus that would be with him the rest of his life. Because he has been with the Blossoms, who are showing signs of the same virus, the shelter has made the decision that the four of them should be euthanised. They are not allowed to process them any further, or keep them on foster.

Fui and Suey are to be quarantined, and I will have a good talk with my vet to see what we should do next.

The babies are stuffing themselves at the moment with their favourite stinky goodness. They have an afternoon of cuddles scheduled, and then will make the trip back.

My heart feels very heavy today.

_____________Edit________________

The Blossoms and Seamus made a peaceful journey to the Bridge this afternoon. Our vet believes Fui and Suey will be fine, as they are fully imunised adults who had minimal contact with the babies.

We are so sorry to hear that...we got sucker punched when our dear stray Benjamin was diagnosed with FIP and had to be euthanized...we were so scared for everyone else in the house since they lived with him for 6 months...and all worked out ok. We know it's scary, but taking in these little darlings is still a wonderful thing to do...we anxiously will wait to hear how everything goes with Fui and Suey. Purrs to you all.

Our hearts go out to you for having to say good-bye to those darlings. At the very least, they knew love because of you.
We are so very sorry.

I am so sorry to read this awful news. You worked so hard to give these four sweethearts a good life whilst they were with you. They knew, love and comfort which is much more than many cats ever know. We didn't know they all had a virus, we are wondering which virus it was and hope that Sui and Fuifui will be ok.

We send you endless rumbly purrs and love

Such a tragic thing to happen. The PM is all leaky eyed for you. At least you gave them some wonderful days of love.

So so sorry.

I am so sorry to learn the sad news, my eyes are leaking all over. But I am comforted in knowing that they knew love, kindness, warmth and a fully belly while they were in your care. I wish things could have turned out differently. Soft purrs to you.
