Frustrated Tabby Friday

Hi kitties. I have a reason for having my hat on right here. Since I was a young mankitten, I have had problems with cat acne on my chin. I'm a good boy letting my mum clean my chin, but I still get it. This week, my acne turned into an abscess. I had to let my mum clip my chin and then clean out the abscess, then went to the vet for an antibiotic injection. I did not approve of any of it.
For now, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself. Hopefully the weekend will be better!
From the mum:
Fui was a very very good boy, and even though it was very uncomfortable for him and a bit scary, he didn't scratch or go for the bite. He is a very gentle tabbyman. When he realised that his v-e-t friend had liver treats, he forgot that he was out of his comfort zone and spent the rest of the appointment trying to do his high five trick for treats. His wound will have to be cleaned twice a day for the next week, and so far he is not fighting it too hard. He really is a very nice cat.

Tortie Tuesday

Hello everybody! It's Dahlia here, with my pretty little Lily. She loves having alone cuddles with me. While she was having an extra snack with me, do you know what my boys were doing? They were all hanging out in the litterbox! My babies are three weeks old now, and are growing up so much. They have started to use the litterbox on their own, which my foster mum gets crazy excited over. They are also much more mobile and are starting to totter around strongly. Now that they are toddling about more and more, our bathroom has had a bit of a re-design. My foster mum has set up the kitten fence to restrict the area my kittens can wander in, while I still have access to the whole bathroom.
I go through the gap in the fence to cuddle with my babies and feed them. I have my dinner outside the fence to stop the babies walking through it (which made me crazy!), and my litter trays are also outside, just off to the side of the picture. A ladycat needs her privacy, you know. Now, it's dinner time so I'm off to have some noms! :)
Love Dahlia.

Wednesday Weigh In

Hi kitties. It's Gus here. My foster mum told me I am quite a popular boy (hi Rumblemum!), so I thought I would stop by and say hello! All five of us babies are putting on weight, and our mama is losing it! Lewis is the heaviest of my siblings, and Lily is the lightest. Our mum is enjoying all sorts of foods, including kitten formula to get some more fat in her, lots of crunchies, rabbit patties, and chicken stew flavoured Innova Flex. Mama likes to lick all the gravy off the chicken first, which my foster mum says the resident kitty Fui does too. Last night she got some sardines, and she went crazy over them!

There is some funny graffiti close to the shelter I was in when I was a freshie.
There are a few of these kitties around Newtown, the suburb the shelter is in. The area is supposed to have one of the highest densities of real kitties living there in Australia. I think that the silver and purple tabby is nearly as cute as a little ginger one :)
Love from Gus.

Monday Madness

Have I ever told you about my brother Lishy? He is a weirdo. We currently have a fun collection of boxes to play in.And Lishy is trying to destroy them! He has been ripping the sides off and then runs away with the bits of paper. At this rate, our boxes will have disintegrated soon. This leaves us with one conclusion... Little Brothers are crazy!

Thoughtful Thursday

Hello kitties! My name is Dahlia, and I live in the upstairs bathroom with my four boys and my little girl. My foster mum says I am a beautiful sweet girl who is settling into life as a housecat very well. Because I am a youngster and have been under a bit of stress, my foster mum has been weighing my babies so that we can make sure they are getting enough food and are putting on good weight. I supervise closely to make sure that my foster mum gets the correct readings. This is me helping her to weigh my baby girl Lily.
Lily is my special girl. She is a tortie just like me, and is the smallest of my babies. We like to have snuggle time together, and sometimes I will bring her out of the plastic container my babies have as a bed into my squishy bed, but leave the boys behind! As well as my squishy bed and the plastic container I sleep in with my babies, I have another cardboard box that I like to rest in. It's good to have options. I have to get back to my babies now! See you later :)

The Boys Have Names!

Our little boys have names now. We have named them after three very special mancats. Our first two little black furred boys have been named after two of Cory's Angel brothers.

This is Lewis.
This is Jonathan. The little black and white boy has been named after Suey's special friend from Catster. This is Benny. Gus continues to grow healthy and strong. Lily does too. All five have opened their eyes now, and are much more active. Dahlia has found her voice in the last two days, and has some nice chats with mum. The little family is settling into life in the kitten room very well.

We have been trying to upload some videos for the last couple of days. Hopefully, this one will work! , we hope you like the air kneading :)

If you are interested, has a preview of the photos that came and took of us. There is one photo of each of us. We had a fun time with Tanya. Even Suey came down and spent some time posing! Lishy was a little freaked out by the noise of the camera in the beginning, but quickly warmed up. A play with Da Bird certainly helped! As for me, I was smitten from the moment Tanya walked through the door. At one point she was lying on the ground taking some pictures of Lishy and I wandered over and started sniffing her hair and licking her ear!

I think I was quite the natural model, if I do say so myself:)

Monday Munchies

Dahlia has been taking wonderful care of her babies. The love their milkbar time, and line up together.Dahlia enjoys feeding time too, and will purr away and knead the air as the babies have their dinner. Dahlia is getting through the kitten food like there is no tomorrow, but we can't blame her with five mouths to feed!

Snuggles on Sunday

Dahlia and the babies have been having some lovely snuggles this weekend. She really seems to enjoy being a mummy, and is taking great care of her babies.Dahlia has been eating and toileting really well herself, too. Tomorrow, the lady who is taking mum and dad's wedding photos is coming to take photos of us! Mum is looking forward to having some photos that show Suey's colouring clearly, as it's hard to photograph.

Have a happy week :)

Introducing...

Miss Dahlia Sparrow and her batch of beautiful babies.
Only two kittens have names so far, as we are yet to confirm genders. This is little Lily Sparrow, who looks just like her mama. This is Mr. Gus Sparrow.
Dahlia has a little tuxie cutie.
And two little dark kittens. The dark kittens are the first ones to start opening their eyes.Dahlia is settling in well. She is very friendly. The people who brought her in didn't think cats that small (we think she is still a youngin' herself) could get pregnant. When Dahlia started getting bigger, they thought she just had worms. Dahlia gave birth in a dog kennel on the Monday night, and her sister gave birth in the same kennel on the Tuesday. That same day they were taken to the shelter.

Dahlia's sister is in foster care with another lady, and is doing well.

We are looking forward to getting to know this little lady and her family.

You Got It!

We are having a mama and her babies come to stay with us. They arrived at the shelter yesterday, so the cattery manager wanted to keep her there for a couple of days in order to check that she would be a good mama and look after the babies. If we'd moved her again and got her worked up again so soon there was a risk that she would reject them. Apparently the babies are little freshies, so they really need their mama at the moment. When we last spoke to the people at the shelter, the five babies were going strong!

This will be the first time we've had a mama since the beautiful was with us, and the first time Daddy has been home when we've had a mama, so it's all very exciting! :)
