Way Back Wednesday

This is me in days I hardly remember. Days when my mum was a good blogging assistant! Now, she is too "busy" looking at pictures of fluffy white dresses and researching menus to help me comment and post.

Sharpen up your act, lady! That's a tortie order!

Junk in the Trunk

Hi everyone! It's Barney! I am continuing to get a bit more confident with people, although I can still be a bit hissy and hidey. I'm learning, though. I want to show you my friend Dino! Over the weekend, he really started to fill out. Mum thinks it was the extra Nutrigel that did it. He is still a skinny mini, but he has started to get some nice coverage over his ribs.
Yesterday, he ran for the first time since he came to our foster home! His walk is getting stronger too. It is not as wobbly as it used to be. His furs are also getting nicer. That makes me smile really big!
I would like to send purs from all the big cats to our friend Momo, who had an accident at home yesterday. Get better soon, sweetie!
Love Barney.

The Rubbles

We have a great update on the Rubble boys. They are both doing really well. They have developed a quick bond, and spend a lot of time cuddling. Dino watches Barney play with toys and has started to mimic his actions. Barney is already more confident being handled. Both boys had difficulties eating, with Barney having required force feedings at the shelter and Dino only eating small amounts. They seem to be taking confidence from each other, and are now eating good meals!Twenty days after he was found, Dino is finally starting to really relax and is emerging out of his 'survival' mode. He is a lot brighter and more interested in his surroundings.Doesn't Barney have great markings? He reminds us of our former fosters Bobby Dazzler and Brad Oscar. We hope you have a fabulous weekend, friends :)

What The? Wednesday

Look at what the cat dragged in! This is Barney. Isn't he adorable? He was found in a city art gallery. He's been at the shelter for a while to make sure he is fit and healthy, and has now come to stay with us. He is very shy, and we are hoping that by being together with Dino (yes, he has a name!), they will help each other. The introduction went well, and they are now snoozing in their bed together.

Dino got his name from Dino the Dinosaur on the Flintstones. Dino liked his bones, and this skinny mini does too! :)

The Newbie

This is the new little kitten who is staying with us. He doesn't have a name yet, because we are still debating whether he is a boy or a girl. Mum think he is a boy, but as she is notoriously bad at sexing a kitten, that doesn't mean much! The little one has had a very quiet weekend. He is eating ok, but mostly likes to just curl up and rest on something warm. Mum is under the blanket in these pictures. He will go for a little wander around the living room, but is not interested in playing or running about. We think he is just conserving as much energy as he can in order to gain some weight. He did make it up onto the couch on his own for the first time today, which was a bit exciting. He will go into the super vet who gave Lishy a good bill of health this week, to see what she says. The pictures are a bit deceptive, as his coat is so thick. He is terribly thin.
We do have some great news about the Ginger Ninjas. Greta has been able to get them into the adoption program at the super vet, where they will be desexed, vaccinated and microchipped before looking for their new homes. This is awesome on two counts- they will be well looked after and get everything they need, and it will not require the resources of the shelter. Hooray! :)
Have a good week, everybuddy :)

Cat in a Box

Thankyou for coming to my party, everybuddy!
I've got these boys in the palm of my paw! These are older pictures from when the Darcy kittens were still staying with us. I have to tell you about our new little kitten. He doesn't have a name yet. He was found in a squash court nearby and was brought into the vet. He stayed at the vet for 10 days before coming home with us. We're a little bit worried about this little one, because he is so skinny. He hides it well under his furs, but underneath his coat he is skin and bone. Every bone can be felt, and there is no muscle mass at all. He weighs 800grams, but based on his frame mum thinks he should be closer to 1.5 kilos. For now, we're keeping him warm, feeding him good foods and giving him lots of cuddles. I hope you have a warm, well fed snuggly weekend! :)
Love Suey.

My List

Thankyou very much to all the lovely kitties who came by and left me a note for my Gotcha Day. It was very sweet to see them :) I have a list of things that have been going on here:
1. My mum forgot my Gotcha Day.
2. I chomped up as much grass as I could on my trip to the garden.
3. I then threw it up on the rug. That will teach her to remember better!
4. Bertie the Bunny found his Forever Home today.
5. We have a new kitten. Skin and bone has nothing on this little one.

Forever Dad, we love you so very much. Come home safe to us soon.

Do you ever feel like there is something there? Like you're being watched?
No, me neither. Have a great weekend, everybuddy! :)

Herbie

Today we want to send lots of love to a very special dog named Herbie, who went to the Bridge on Monday. He was a very special working dog who helped to keep soldiers and civillians safe from explosives. Herbie was also a huge morale booster, as everybody loves a happy pup, and he reminded the soldiers of being at home. Herbie was killed by the Taliban along with his handler and another soldier.

Thankyou for your service, Herbie. We hope to meet you one day at the Bridge.

P.S. Our mum made an unfortunate typo in yesterday's post. She should have said that Alice is NOW fighting fit.

All 'ectomied out

These are some pictures of Freddie Weasley that were taken during his stay with us. Lottie, Alice and Henry all did really well during thier surgeries. Alice had an umbilical hernia repaired, and is not fighting fit. The three of them made the trip back to the shelter today, where they will go up for adoption.
Suey's eye is looking much better. She is being very good with her eye drops, and the swelling is pretty much all gone. Thankyou very much for your get better wishes for her.
That is the update from our house :)

Excitement

Hi Kitties!
This has been an interesting day for me, Suey Sunshine.First of all, Alice, Henry and Lottie went in to the vet this afternoon , as tomorrow they are having their special surgeries. They will go from the vet to the shelter for adoption. Even I will miss them, they were a cute bunch. That's not the only thing! I got the shock of my life when I had to go into the vet with them! Some time over night I got hit in the eye, and when mum and dad got up this morning it was swollen shut. Fui and Lishy have been hiding out together on the spare bed all day. Guilty boys! I have to have antibiotic eye drops for the next five days, which is not fun for me or my poor mum who I intend to terrorise for those five days. The v-e-t put dye in my eye, and luckily there are no cuts or foreign bodies. Aren't Sundays supposed to be restful?! I hope yours was moreso than mine!
Love Suey.

Rugging Up

It's been raining and pouring today, so I haven't moved far from my comfy spot. I am a tropical kitty, and no fan of the cold! Tomorrow, my mum is going to do me a favour. Do you remember how last year my team the Parramatta Eels was beaten in the Grand Final by the Melbourne Storm? Well, we found out that for the last four years the Storm have been dirty great cheaters, paying extra illegal payments to players in order to keep lots of stars. Tomorrow night is the re-match, and mum has promised me a heckle or two.

Go Parra!

Weighty Wednesday

Guess who has passed that magical mark of 1kg on the scales? That would be me! I'm actually well past it, but have stayed a little longer due to a combination of letting my brother put on a few extra grams, and the foster lady at the shelter being sick. Does this look like the butt of a kitten over a kilo to you? It does to the scales! This little miss is super close, and we think she will pass the mark in the next couple of days.
We've been eating lots and lots and lots to fuel all of our crazy antics. You burn a lot of calories when you are a kitten! Happy Hump Day, everyone :)
Love Alice.

Happy Birthday Dad!

We have news on the Ginger Ninjas! All four are doing well. Mum's initial attempt at sexing was incorrect (now where have we heard that before...) and there are really three girls and a boy in the litter.

This is Noo-Noo and two of his sisters warming up infront of the heater after a bath. He got his name from the vacuum cleaner on the Teletubbies, because he is a little piglet kitten! He is the biggest in the litter. This is the third sister.
The best news of all is that after the first night, the little ginger (below right) who had a slightly runny eye cleared up completely. In the last two weeks there have been no signs at all of the flu- no sneezes, no runny eyes and no runny noses. That makes us very happy.
Today is our Dad's birthday! He got two cakes, because the first one didn't taste all that good! This was the first one, a sponge cake that we tried to make look like a tractor bringing in his jellybean harvest. The sponge was a bit overdone and there was a bit too much icing!
This is the one we made him today. It is his favourite, a black forest cherry cake with milk chocolate ganache. That should keep mum quiet for a while... MOL!
