Friends on Friday

Hi everyone! It's Henry Darcy here. Today was a happy day, because we were allowed out and about to meet our foster siblings! Lishy and Fui thought we were wonderful, but I don't really blame them. Lishy went straight into what my foster mum called 'Sheriff Mode', and was following us about and trilling at us. Fui was cool calm and collected, and kept sending us love eyes.
Suey ignored us, and slept on the top of the couch.
Here you can see two short videos of us playing.

video
My wonky tail is quite visible, and in some frames you can actually see the break. My foster mum spoke to the foster co-ordinator at the shelter, and she said it was broken when I first came in as a teeny tiny kitten. Both Alice and I were bottlefed by a different foster mum before we came to Fui, Suey and Lishy's house, and that is why our quarantine period was shorter than usual when we got here.

After all that playing, we crashed on our bed and had a really big sleep!

I hope you have a happy weekend:)
Love Henry.

This week, and I are facing off in at Misha's blog.

I thought I would take this opportunity to show you some pictures that my mum says I am adorabubble in. She thinks I looked like a little bear cub when I was teeny. In this picture I am only a week old. My eyeballs were still closed over!Even though it's a not very good cellphone picture, this is one of mum's favourites. When I was a month old I got a bug, and spent 24 hours being sick from both ends. This picture is just after I ate some foods on my own, and I started to come out the other side. This is me continuing to look like a bear cub, with bonus cute paw placement. This photo is on our wall. I look like a little monkey x munchkin x gremlin. It also shows that I have come a long way. Because now, I clean the boogers off my nose :P

P.S. Sei-Chans handsome brothers have been unwell, and their #1 is very worried about them. I am sure they would appreciate your purrs if you have a chance.

P.P.S. Our friends at also need purrs. Their lovely foster kitten Ginger passed away, and little Black and White is very sick. The foster mama is very sad, and needs lots of purrs.

Alice Darcy Speaks

Hi everybuddy,We have enjoyed spending our first weekend at Fui, Suey and Lishy's house. We are doing very well with our eating, and today ate our first bits of softened dry food mixed in with our stinky goodness. We also gobble up our milk formula. We are starting to put on some fat, which is good as our foster mum said we felt a bit bony when we arrived. We are also doing very well with our litterbox, and have used it every single time. We enjoy cuddling up in our bed with our heaty pad, and snuggle with Pterodactyl.Henry has a broken tail about 2cm from his bum, which makes it stick out at an angle to the side of him. It doesn't seem to bother him and he has no problems controlling himself with the litterbox. Our foster mum said it ads character. We are getting along famously, and it is hard to believe that we have only known each other for a very short time. It is good to have a kitten friend to play with, and we have started to play lots of games together. Our foster mum says that we are growing before her very eyes, so you might not recognise us next time you see our pictures. I will be sure to tell you that it is me talking :)
Love from Alice.

Today

Today in Australia and New Zealand it is ANZAC Day. We pause to remember and give thanks to the men and women who have served and continue to serve our countries. Live a life worthy of their sacrifices. Lest We Forget.

Our New Babies

Meet the Darcy kittens.
Mr. Henry Darcy, a little grey and white bi-colour.
Miss. Alice Darcy, a torbie and white. They are from seperate litters, but were left at the Cat Protection Society at the same time and at the same age. They were bottle fed by another carer, and are now well on their way to weaning. Alice is a very friendly young lady, full of loving and head rubs. Henry is a bit more aloof, but is slowly warming up. They are both very cute!

New Beginnings

We are now registered as foster carers with . It is an independant, no kill organisation founded in 1958 by a bunch of crazy cat people who wanted to do something about the number of homeless cats. They are an awesome organisation who helped us a lot with our last two litters in terms of accessing low cost healthcare and early desexing. They hold information days for new cat and kitten owners on basic care, and also hold sessions on topics such as parasite control and enriching an indoor cat's environment which anyone can access.

Tomorrow, our first two Cat Protection kittens will be arriving. They are four weeks old. We are very excited :)

Way Back When-sday

Our very first post on our blog was about a crazy curly cat named Evie. She is an adult Devon Rex we fostered in 2008. While researching Devon Rexes, mum came across Daisy the Curly Cat's blog, and thought a blog could be a fun way to record our fostering experiences.

Evie was a tricky girl. When she first came home, we had been told she was pregnant! She also needed a lot of socialisation work, because to be quite honest, she was a lunatic. She stayed with us for 11 weeks before going to a new home in Sydney. Because she was aggressive to other cats and tested postive to FIV, she could not be homed through the shelter. A Rex Rescue helped facilitate her re-homing. One of the ladies who helped us find her a new home sent us these pictures recently of Evie in her Forever Home. She loves her doggie brother, and thy are very happy together.
We love you, Evie!

They call me Lishy

This is me modelling my manly new carrier. Don't I look like the toughest mancat (in-training) on the block!
Our friends at directed us to a proposal from Banfield Charitable Trust that is in the running for a $250 ooo grant from Pepsi's Good Ideas. The funding would enable them to establish and support programs in non-profit hospices that would enable patients to keep their pets with them. It would help them obtain vet care, grooming and pet food, and when people cross the Bridge would help find a home for pets left behind. As an indicator of how much programs like this are needed, over 100 hospices have contacted Banfield about it in only 9 months.

To support Banfield, you can . They are currently ranked 12th. Let's see if we can get them across the line!

Monday Munchday

I love to spend time outside and chomp on the grass. It is delicious!
I also like getting warmed up by the sunshines, especially now that the weather is starting to get cooler.
I hope you got to do something you like today.

My Garden

When the sun moves away and leaves my courtyard in the shade, I am allowed to play outside. I love it! I love to run through the bushes and get all sorts of junk stuck in my furs. My favourite thing is when leaves get caught on spider webs. They look just like a Cat Dancer, which is my favouritest toy!

I hope you got to have some fun this weekend, too.

Love Lishy.

Trials on Thursday

This was not a good day. Not at all. Not for Lishy. Not for Fui.
He was concerned his tabby stripes would wash clean off!
And definately not me. We have been doing big sheds over the last couple of weeks as we prepare for winter, and today we had a big groom to get rid of the loose furs. This was not a plan I supported.I did not enjoy it.I've put mum on notice. If she isn't careful, I will be calling the RSPCA!

It's My Seventh Month Day

Hello!
It's me, Lishy. Remember me? The kitten who had a matter of weeks? Who wouldn't make it to six months? Today I am SEVEN MONTHS OLD! Me and my mum wanted to ring the vet who wanted to euthanise me when I was a sprocket and say "hahahaha, sucker!" but dad said we probably shouldn't. But by golly we thought it!
While I wait for mum to finish my Fancy Feast monthday cake, I'll have a chew on my tree. Care to join me? :)

Brothers

I think Fui loves having a brother. You know why? When he rough houses with Suey, she cries "UNCLE!!!!!" within 3 seconds. I don't. I come back for more!We have been having lots of fun running around outside being tough and mancatly. I don't think he is looking forward to me growing even bigger though, because I will totally be able to take him.
Being a boy is fun!:)

Walking!

***Update***
Julia and Team Victorious crossed the finish line at 1648 NZ time. They walked for nearly 34 hours. They have very sore feet and lots of blisters, but they are very happy to have crossed the finish line. We would like to say a very big thankyou for your purrs. We are sure that they could feel that wonderful positive energy as they were walking (and walking and walking and walking...). Thankyou also to the crew from St. Johns who were at the check points to look after the walkers, and who took good care of Julia's feet.

We would also like to say a massive thankyou to Lisa from for your very generous donation. Thankyou!

Today in our house, we are watching our mum's sister Julia do something seriously cool. She and three colleagues are taking part in the Fifth Oxfam Trailwalker in Taupo, New Zealand. Together, they will walk 100km (62 miles) and are aiming to do so in 30 hours. There are 250 teams this year, each one committed to raising at least $2000 through fundraising and sponsorships. This money will be used by Oxfam for projects in the Pacific and East Asia.
Julia and her Team Victorious teammates, Shenwei, Monique and Inge.
We are able to follow the progress of Team Victorious through their . They will be taking in some really lovely New Zealand scenery on their walk, including , a popular geothermal activity area to visit, and .
Monique, Shenwei and Julia on a training walk.
Good luck, Team Victorious! We are thinking of you!

Freddieday

Freddie's dad sent us some photos of the lovely lad.His mum and dad love having him as part of their family, and he is settling in very well. He loves playing games with his dad and charging about during the day, and is becoming a real cuddlepuss at night. He looks like he is settling in very well! :)
Thankyou for the pictures, Matt. He is such a handsome boy!:)
Thankyou to our friends for your nice words for mum. She is finally on the mend, and is coughing and spluttering a lot less. This has improved our nap time very much!
