I'm very very interested in it.
My mouth is watering and I'm chit-chattering!
Fui is mildly interested.
All will be revealed tomorrow!P.S. It's not Harry.
It's not Ron.
And it's not Hermione.
It is made out of the inner tubes of paper towel rolls, stuck together.
For this test, I got my assistant Fattyfatty Moimoi to help me (partly because my other assistant took the photos of me while the camera was on the wrong setting, and the pictures were all blurry). To set up this toy, bits of kibble are placed along the tubes.
To get the kibble out, we have to reach in and try to flick the kibble out. We have also discovered that if we hit it hard enough, when sliding along the floor kibble usually falls out. Fui gets a bit annoyed at this toy, but I like it. He is not as patient as I am. I also have thinner paws.
Here is a video of the Hogwarts kittens from last night. They are real proper little toddlers now! We would really appreciate some purrs for the little ones. They have developed little colds. They are still very fragile, and after Stella's babies, we are all too aware that we could still lose them.
This is what my sister Hermione looks like at 2 weeks old. Like a pirate! Hahahaha!
My brother Ron had a breakthrough last night. Everybody has been worried about him because he doesn't poop. He only ever did the tiniest smudges (ew). The vet said not to worry too much, since he was growing and obviously absorbing the nutrients from his food, peeing lots, and was at least producing a tiny bit of poop so wasn't blocked. Well, last night, it all changed. The floodgates opened! So our foster mum is very happy to see that all his bits are working as they should be.
On behalf of my brother, sister and myself, I would like to thank those who sent us so many purrs and good thoughts. We are doing our very best to grow strong and healthy. Now if you'll excuse me, it's back to snuggle-snooze time for me. A growing boy needs his rest, don't you know:)
Suey and I felt rather inspired, and thought we would have a go at snuggling.
We had our cuddle session on the end of the bed.
Mum and Ron had a cuddle session after lunch. This is little Ron in mum's lap, while they were lying on the couch together.
We hope you got to have some nice snuggles today, too:)
When mum was doing their 0230 feed this morning, she noticed Hermione also has a tiny opening in her right eye! Isn't it amazing how each of them started opening their right eye first? Harry and Hermione's eyes are both opening very slowly.
Ron on the other hand is trying to set the eye opening record! This was him tonight, less than 36 hours after mum first noticed the tiniest opening! Both eyes are nearly opened all the way!
He looks like a real little boykitten now. We also took these short videos of each kitten. They are a lot more aware now. The quality isn't very good, as mum is not using any flash and weak lighting while their eyes are just opening, but you get an idea:)
The titanic tabby.
And the tiny (maybe) tabby.
When mum had the kittens at the vet for a check up, a lady walking past came in to have a look at them with her two children. She left her name and number to be contacted when the kittens are ready to go to Forever Homes. Their family has just lost their dog, and she thinks they will be ready to add a new furry family member soon. The lady is a human foster mum, and thought it would be nice to bring a kitty into the family who had also been in foster care.
So I have been going on excursions in my harness. I'm really getting used to it now, and don't do the "my harness is so heavy I have to drag my belly along the floor" walk when I'm outside.
It's nice to be out there chomping on the plants and rolling in the dirt again. One of my favourite ever things to do is to writhe on the concrete, and I have some good concrete blocks to roll around on.
The vet cat, Kitten, has been in our courtyard a few times, so I've been having a good sniff of the areas he has been in.
I blow raspberries at the idea of Kitten in my garden!
At the moment, my courtyard is full of dust. It is red dust from the dust storm yesterday! Mum and dad sleep with a window open, so their bedroom is full of red dust too. This is what the sky looked like when we were having breakfast yesterday.
It was like looking through a piece of orange cellophane, and a little bit spooky.
Here are the requisite kitten photos for the day.
I must admit, they are growing me. I like to sit on top of my cat tree and watch them wriggle around and eat their dinner.
They still aren't as cute as me though:)
This mancat is a Toyger. According to Wikipedia, the Toyger has been in development from the 1980's, with the aim of breeding domestic shorthair tabbies to look like 'toy tigers'. The creator, Judy Sugden, says the idea is they will help promote conservation of the tiger. In developing the Toyger, she even imported a street tomcat from India because of his strong markings. This one here is WNCA Diamond Db Gd Ch Waratah Gd National Ch Xquizit Chester.
This little lady is an Oriental. She had the most curious face, and seemed very interested in what was going on around her. Her name is Azov Salix Vitellina.
This is an Egyptian Mau. Mum had never seen one before. His coat colouring reminded her of Tom Kitten, one of our first fosters.
This is a Bengal. His coat is very cool. And look! He has a Yeow! nip cigar and fishie in his crate with him! Maybe he was sleeping off the buzz? MOL!
These were mum's favourite two kitties that she saw on the day of the show. She said they would win every ribbon available if it was up to her.
We asked if we could have bonito flakes and Temptations instead of ribbons. MOL!
The amount of time mum wastes 'ooooohing' and 'aaaaaahing' over them is ridiculous.
Ron is drinking better and better. They are feeding every 2-2.5 hours, with a 3 hour interval between 3am and 6am. Mum is learning to deal with it now, and is functioning at a higher level than she was earlier on. MOL!
When the kittens knead on mum while they are drinking, she nearly dies! It's just too much cute!
Mum has been making sure they get some good cuddle time each day on mum's chest, after reading that hearing and feeling a heartbeat is good for their development.
As a fan of cuddles, mum has embraced that completely:)
Mum and dad laugh at me sometimes when I clean myself. I usually wait until I am the centre of attention, then get the preening started.
Finding a good, high, prominent position is even better!
My cat tree is a perfect position for such flagrant exhibitionism.
Speaking of flagrant exhibitionism...
The little kittens are mastering the art. I must give them points though for foot placement. It keeps the pictures ladylike!
When mum took them in to the vet for a check up yesterday, the man who found the kittens came in the door at the same time, to buy some flea preventer for his cat! He was very excited to see the babies, and was nearly in tears. He took lots of photos and video on his phone. He said that a friend of his is very interested in adopting one of the kittens when they are old enough to be adopted. How cool is that!
Ron (below) has suddenly put on some good weight. He is looking healthier every day, every hour even. Harry and Hermione are just under 200 grams, while Ron is a spot over 150 grams. So they are on track with their weight gain. Their eyes are still closed. We can't wait for them to open and start seeing the world.
I also have to tell you a funny story. When mum is doing the late feedings, I sleep with daddy and Fui sits with mum and the babies. Last night, mum was cleaning up Hermione after a feed, and she did a poop. It was a bit of a stinker. Fui looked outraged! He was running about sniffing the floor and the table and anything he could find to sniff. Then, he went to his litterbox and laid an even bigger stinker. He came back looking very proud of himself! Hahaha! It was like they were in a contest!
I think it's time for me to take a more active roll with the babies. Otherwise, they'll end out being too much like that big boofhead brother of mine!
