A Note From Sally

Hello Everykitty,
This is just a quick note to let you know I found my Forever home on the weekend. Now my foster mum can stop trying to hatch plans to bust me out of the joint!

Oh yeah, that little nutball Sean was adopted, too. So it was a good weekend for us.
Did you know that the day after Brad's photo was published in the paper, the shelter had over 50 phone calls asking if he was still available?! The families that ended up adopting Mickey, Heath and Penny had also initially come out to the shelter to meet Brad. Unfortunately for them, Brad was adopted on Friday, and the paper was printed on Saturday. But I think they still got a good deal in the other Brady's and Smitten-Kittens.

In other news, my foster mum has had to confine Calvin and Jasper in the dog crate. Calvin has been obsessively trying to suckle off Meryl, and the poor girl was simply beside herself. She had boy kitty spit all over her tummy! My foster mum put Jasper in there too so they can play. Hopefully now Meryl can get some peace. Her ear is not looking any better, but it's also not looking any worse. Hopefully the coming days will see improvement, as she is getting close to desexing weight, but needs to be on the mend before she can go up for adoption.

It was nice knowing you guys!:)

The Babies are a Growin'

And boy are they getting cute!

All four bebbehs have opened their ears and eyes now.

Their colouring is also coming in, and today stripes were visible for the first time on this little one's tail. Mum apologises for the quality of these photos, she doesn't want to use the flash with them, and the resolution is no good for close ups without it. She's thinking of investing in a new camera, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

Stella is continuing to be a wonderful mamma. We are so proud of how well she is coping with the whole thing. She is keeping the babies clean and fed, and watches over them while they sleep.

There is a real differential in size between the four. Mum is keeping an eye on the skinny mini second from the left. She is eating well, and actually seems to be the fiestiest of the four.

Stella seems to be learning to enjoy feeding time. She especially enjoys chin skritches while giving the babies their dinner. But then, who doesn't like chin skritches?!

She is also eating like a champion, which is great given how small she is looking as the babies grow! Is there anything sweeter than sleeping kittens?!:)

P.S. Mum does contract work, so her busy time related to that. It kept getting extended, which was good, but meant I missed my after lunch snuggles. The contract was completed today, so tomorrow, I'll have my Innova with chin skritches, thankyou very much:)

Spoke too Soon

It looks like the busy time is not quite finished afterall, but we will find out tomorrow when it will be. It's both good and bad that it is continuing- good because of the opportunity, bad because we are missing out on the extra chin skritches.

Stella and her babies have taken up residence under the dresser. All four babies now have open eyes and ears, and are looking much more kitten-like than rattie-like. Stella and I have been spending time hanging out on each side of the door to her room, which mum thinks is cute. She is a lovely little ladycat. She is so friendly, and a real cuddlepuss with mum. She does this cute thing when mum bends down, where she rears up on her back legs to touch her nose to mum's. Mum had to take Meryl back to get checked out today. She has a lump and a hairless patch on the back of her left ear. It looks like a mosquito bite, but the hairloss is weird. She was cleared of ringworm or an abscess, and now we just have to watch and see how it develops or changes. Hoperfully it should just go away. Mum is very glad that it wasn't ringworm, as we don't really have anywhere to isolate her for a long period of time at home except the bathroom (which gets cold), and there is no room in isolation at the shelter.
Don't you think Calvin is a cutie patootie? He is a very perfect looking young mancat in training. He looks like the pictures of kittens that they stick on the side of a tissue box.
Have a happy week, peeps:)

What We're Doing

This is how we are going to spend the day. Mum's busy time is finally coming to an end, so we are getting in some naps in order to nap better with her. It went a lot longer than it was initially going to, but it was good in the long run. She is going to be easier to snoopervise now that she wont be out as much!

This is our beautiful friend Chilli, from .This is her lovely sister, Siena. After they heard about little Elijah's passing, they sent us this pretty photo of a violet in their garden, that they said made them think of him. Some of you might have noticed the slideshow we have in our sidebar, of the fosters who have shared our home. We only had a couple of photos with Elijah in them, and all we could see was that he was about to cross over. Siena, Chilli and their mum have kindly allowed us to use their photo in our slideshow, to represent Elijah.
To Siena, Chilli and their Gardening mum, thankyou. It means so much to us to be able to have a positive rememberance of Elijah on our blog.
On another note, don't you think Chilli and young Ruby Bunny resemble each other? Two stunning girls:) (minus a bit of tongue on Chilli's part, perhaps, MOL).

Hide!

The second litter of kittens we had were three siblings we called . Pipi Saurus-Rex was the little girl of that litter. She earned that name because she was a little bit of a crazy girl. We now know another kitten ready to be inducted into the Order of the Rex!
Tillie Saurus-Rex! She spends her days pestering the other kittens (or teaching them patience, as she puts it).
Look out! She's coming!

We Are 1 Week!

Our one week birthday was yesterday! Our foster mum says we are growing beautifully.
Even though we do still fit in the palm of her hand:)

My eyes are even starting to open a little bit! Over the next week or so, all of us should have bright open eyes, and be developing our sight. So soon, I'll be able to see that I don't do the greatest job of keeping myself clean! Our ears will also open up over the next fortnight.
But we're still babies. A little poop is no big deal! Can you see our claws? We don't have the ablility to retract them yet. That will come soon enough.

By the time our foster dad comes back for a visit for a couple of nights over Easter, we will be responding to external sights and sounds.

Our mum is doing a great job of taking extra good care of us.

I'm a Model

You know what I mean?
I like to do my little turn on the catwalk,

I shake my tailed tush on the catwalk

On the catwalk, yeh
You're a handsome babycat, Calvin.
Speaking of models, this is the best shot mum's been able to get to show the beautiful aqua blue of Stella's eyes. They really are stunning. She is continue to do well, as are the babes.

It's nice to have so many lovely kitty souls in our home:)

It's our Birthday:)

Guess what! Today is our estimated date of birth! That makes us 2 year old today!

This is one of mum's favourite photos of us together, and was taken not long after Suey moved in. We were approximately 12 weeks old in this photo. As you can see, we are a very close pair of bonded kitties. We were found abandoned on a building supply lot when we were only approximately 2 weeks old. It is not clear whether we were dumped, or our mumcat was scared away. We are from a litter of four, with a tortie sister and a caramel tabby brother.

Our lucky stars were out in force on the day we were noticed, because mum's good friend Kate was at the supply lot to get some materials to restore a chair. She is a natural with animals, mum has never known one to shy away from her. When Kate found out what was going on with us, she decided to take responsibility for us, and took us home with her. She fed and cared for us round the clock, even though she was pregnant and her husband was deployed. She looked after us until we were well socialised, and knew how to use our litterbox well. Then, she got us and our sister into the adoption program run by the biggest vet chain in our state. The program couldn't accept our tabby brother, because he had broken his leg jumping off the couch when he was tiny. While his leg had healed, the program couldn't take him. Kate was able to re-home him herself (after conducting many interviews!).

The time we went into the program coincided with when mum and dad started to look for a kitty to add to their family. Kate suggested the vet program, based on how well she had seen them look after us. The rest, as they say, is history.

When we were living with our foster mum Kate, we were also looked after by three foster fur-siblings. Pasta, a ginger kitten, Winnie, a grey kitty, and Reg, a young Maltese crossbreed.

Pasta is unfortunately no longer with them, but mum spent the other night with Reg, Winnie, and their two new blurps, Lily and Theo. We wanted to share some photos of our foster siblings, in honour of how they looked after us.

As you can see, Winnie is a beautiful ladycat.

She is very refined, and loves her Fancy Feast. She never says no to a cuddle. You can see her here enjoying head rubs from our mum. Reg was a real sweetheart to us. He was still young himself, but took us under his wing. He possibly thought he was our mum! Reg even let us try to suckle off him!

Reg is a bit of a wild boy, but has a friendly heart. He is great company.

He was a little bit worried that he was snapped on the day before his groomers visit, but we told him you wouldn't judge him too harshly.

We hope you liked meeting the kitty and woofie who are very important in our lives:)

More Introductions!

We have another new litter!

This little lad is Calvin Bunny. Isn't he a darling?! He has something that his brother and sister are missing. A tail! This young lady is Ruby Bunny (thanks for the suggestion, Poppy Q!).

And this young man is Jasper Bunny.

The litter originally had 5 members, but two have gone out with another foster family. Of the five, there were 4 boys and 1 girl (just like the Oscars!). The other two boys were 1 ginger with tail, and one champagne without a tail. We think one of the parents may have been a Manx, which is quite exciting. It was a shame to split them up, but we also have to be careful not to get too many in the house, as that would just make things too difficult, and prevent any of them recieving decent socialisation. One of our goals with the kittens it to help them become outgoing, and confident in approaching people coming to look at the kittens. Mum was thrilled to see that Sally was running over to say hello to people, when she visited her this morning.
You might wonder why Mickey, Heath and Penny did not run up to the sides of the cages. For one simple reason- they were all adopted yesterday! Wahoooooo!!!! :)
Tillie is happy to have some young playful kittens to have fun with, as Meryl is a bit reserved.
Although she has a unique way of showing it! Hahaha!

We hope you have a wonderful week!

Life Goes On

Firstly, we'd like to thank everyone for all their kind words. The support of the CB is amazing.

I sat with Stella and her babes for several hours last night. She settled down, and gave them a few good feeds over the time. She also toileted the babies. This has helped to put me more at ease than I was previously.

I am almost certain that Stella is still a kitten-cat herself. You can see my hand in the photo above, and I don't have big hands. I'd say she is half of Fui's weight (and he's not even that fat anymore!). She also has very new looking teeth.

The babies seem content. When they are not feeding, they are sleepy and quiet. From what I understand, this is a good thing, and means they are getting enough food.

We thought you might enjoy these videos of the beautiful girl, and her little ones.

We also have some exciting news. Young Brad Oscar lived up to his namesake, Brad Pitt, and was the star of an article in our city's newspaper about the shelter. He was adopted yesterday, but we are hoping his newfound fame will have rubbed off on Mickey, Heath, Sally and Penny, and that they will quickly find their Forever homes. Isn't he a poser! He is such a gorgeous boy.

Polly and Sean are both over a kilo now, and are going back tomorrow for their surgeries and to go up for adoption.

I think that's about it!:)

Sad News

One of the beautiful baby kittens, a boy I have named Elijah, crossed to the Bridge last night. I guess he was just too small.

I buried him today in our back garden, wrapped in an embroidery I had been working on that was about love. I got him a Marty Mouse of his own, and some cat grass to take with him to the Bridge.

Now I am nervous about the others. At the moment, they seem to be ok. However, I think mumcat (who we have nearly decided will be named Stella) is still young herself, and she doesn't seem to be particularly attentive. I have formula and feeding supplies, and will just have to keep a close eye on them.

While I have had other fosters that have died, I had never actually seen them after they had passed. Seeing Elijah was like seeing the other five with him, and came as a real shock. It is something I pray I don't see again.

Surprise!

Here is part one of our surprise! Isn't she pretty. She is only the size of Suey when she was about 9 months old, a tiny little thing. She is also incredibly friendly. This was the best photo of her that mum could get, because she just wanted cuddles and kept trying to get closer. And this is part two of the surprise! 5 little babies! They are two days old, and look a bit like little ratties (we're being honest!).

We are so excited to see how they grow and develop:)

Tama-Chan, you got it right first go!:)

Guess What!

Wand toys are FUN!

We also have a surprise. It is going to be revealed tommorow! We have a few clues:

-The surprise will not be going into the usual kitten room.
- It is made up of two distinct parts.
-The two parts are different sizes.
-Over the coming weeks, one of the parts will change a LOT.

Any guesses? Muahahaha!

New on Tuesday

What's this?
It's very interesting.
And it has water on it!
It must be a rain catcher. It's making the floor wet though. Muuuuuum!

(Notice how our outdoor setting is still inside? Mum is too lazy to take it back out, incase there is another cyclone warning. Then she'd just have to bring it back in. So it's staying in until the end of storm season).
Um, excuse me? Wait a second, this post isn't over. It's high time I properly introduced myself.

My name is Tillie Tuxedo! And I made an exciting discovery today. It is a thing called Fancy Feast. At first I snoopervised the others eating it.

But then I dove right in! Did you know that the four of us have a few different bowls we could use, but we always choose to eat from the same one. What's the saying, copy cats?

It is lovely to officially meet you:)
